PLANETS SSbD

PLANETS, a Horizon Europe project, will receive 14.5 million Euros to demonstrate the applicability of the SSbD Draft Framework published by the JRC while technically developing alternatives for 3 of the most important classes of molecules in chemical industries: plasticizers, flame retardants and surfactants. The new molecules and products developed by PLANETS will be significantly safer to workers and consumers and will have considerably lower environmental impact, while ensuring economic viability and social awareness. This ambitious project, coordinated by Commissariat a l’ Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives (CEA), which hosted the Kick-Off Meeting, brings together 18 complementary partners from 7 countries, including 7 from large industry (BASF, Chemische Fabrik Budenheim KG , ELKEM Silicones, Greenchemicals Srl, Steinbacher Dämmstoff GmbH, SYENSQO, Wacker Chemie AG) () and 3 SMEs (RINA Consulting, STERNA, QSAR Lab), 5 RTOs (AIMEN Technology Center, CEA, TNO, IPC, Fraunhofer ICT) and 3 non-profit research organizations (BioNanoNet Forschungsgesellschaft mbH, Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, Radboud University). These partners bring the expertise required for the entire project development. PLANETS aims to significantly contribute to paving the way for the adoption of the SSbD framework while proposing a roadmap towards industrialisation and market uptake of the alternative solutions. PLANETS est un ambitieux projet Horizon Europe qui vise à développer des alternatives pour trois classes importantes de molécules dans l'industrie chimique : les plastifiants, les rétardants inflammables et les surfactants. Ces nouveaux produits seront beaucoup plus sûrs pour les travailleurs et les consommateurs et auront un impact environnemental considérablement réduit, tout en garantissant une viabilité économique et une conscience sociale. Ce projet est coordonné par Commissariat à l'Énergie Atomique et aux Énergies Alternatives (CEA) et rassemble 18 partenaires complémentaires de 7 pays, dont 7 du grand industrie (BASF, Chemische Fabrik Budenheim KG , ELKEM Silicones, Greenchemicals Srl, Steinbacher Dämmstoff GmbH, SYENSQO, Wacker Chemie AG) et 3 PME (RINA Consulting, STERNA, QSAR Lab), 5 RTOs (AIMEN Technology Center, CEA, TNO, IPC, Fraunhofer ICT) et 3 organismes de recherche non bénéficiaires (BioNanoNet Forschungsgesellschaft mbH, Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, Radboud University). PLANETS vise à contribuer significativement à la voie d'adoption du cadre SSbD tout en proposant un roadmap vers l'industrialisation et le lancement sur le marché des solutions alternatives. Ce projet reçoit une subvention de l'Union européenne Horizon Europe pour une durée de plusieurs mois et implique des partenaires internationaux de différents pays. Le budget du projet est de 14,5 millions d'euros. PLANETS vise à la chimie durable pour un demain plus sûr.
